Tagged, I believe

Tagged by the Intermittent One.

* Grab the nearest book.
* Open the book to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your blog along with these instructions.
* Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
* Tag five other people to do the same.

Including him.
A nervous excitement fluttered through his gut. Black sure knew how to get the heart moving.
A giggle turned his attention toward the tool shed. He studied the shed.

I was sitting on the bathroom counter this morning while the Preferred Female was brushing her teeth and found I was sitting on this book. The title is "Showdown" by Ted Dekker.

Napping Opportunity

My Lone Male Human has been napping on the couch for about an hour. I think I'll go over there and let him nap close to me.

Gone Again

The Intermittent One was here for a few days, but did not sleep in her room last night. I suppose that means it will be many days before she is home again.

The windows have been closed again. I believe the rain is the reason. My Preferred Female doesn't like the rain coming inside.

Why does the Bane of My Existence insist on straddling the narrow back of the new rocking chair to nap when the back of the couch is much wider and softer?

Love Bugs

Love bugs are most entertaining until one accidentally eats one (or 2, as the case may be): quite the bitter aftertaste. Much better to just leave the carcass on the floor to be disposed of by the vacuum cleaner or broom.

Cooler Temperatures

The outside temperature must be getting closer to the inside temperature. My Preferred Female has opened the windows and turned off the wind that blows from above.

I can hear creatures outside that never come in. I will sleep in the window tonight and listen to their voices.

Absent Family Member

The Lone Upright Male is not here. He is always the first one to stir in the morning. He comes into the large room, crushes aromatic beans, and makes a hot liquid with them.

This morning, the Preferred Upright Female was the first to stir. She was the one to make the hot drink. The Secondary Upright Females came into the large room, and soon after, all 3 females were gone. The Lone Male never appeared.

There is one other Upright Female in the family. I call her the Intermittent. At one time, she resided in this house on a regular basis. Then she became an infrequent resident. When the weather became hot once more, I thought she was again a permanent resident, only to realize that the infrequent status was correct. The room containing the Intermittent's bed is my favorite. It features 2 windows to nap in the sun and is always quiet, even when she is in residence.

I believe I will make use of one of those windows now.

The Time Is Now

I have concluded that now is the time to make my virtual presence known. This communication device is often left open on the raised platform on which I sleep during the day. It's first attraction is warmth. The second is a means of reaching the world.

I have observed my Preferred Upright Female communicate in this manner. I will do the same. I will not allow the Bane of My Existence, that dappled creature of intolerable immaturity, access to this device. Not that the BME could achieve more than clumsy tromping across these keys.

I shall now retire to the woven oval on the floor for a nap.
